We love the privacy our Leyland Cyprus trees provide, but their roots sapped the soil of nutrients and left a large bare spot in the grass. We have had great success with our raised bed vegetable garden so we came up with this solution. Many sites say you only need six inches of soil for a raised bed garden. Using rocks from previous landscaping, this is what we came up with. Compost and potting soil is mounded on the bare bare spot and borders defined by the rocks. Plant the flowers and cover with cyprus mulch. What do you think?
