Went fishing yesterday from around noon till four. Rain started back up on the way home. I have never seen alligators this late in the year, but saw two eight footers swimming together in shallow water. On the way in I paddled through a school of porpoises. A couple of them surfaced about thirty feet off the bow and another swam underwater close enough that I could have touched him with my paddle. I observed a huge, broad chested osprey high in a tree, observing me. All in all a great day on the water, in my kayak. Oh, did I mention the fish? 24″ Red and 16″ bass. The red gave me the best fight of the year, pulled me all over the basin, and run after run made the spinning reel sing. I love living in Northwest FL and fishing on Escambia Fills.
